John Utaka
Portsmouth forward John Utaka got praises from his coach Steve Cotterill on Wednesday following his goal-scoring form in the Championship.
The former Rennes player opened the scoring in style in Pompey‘s 3-1 win over Bristol City on Tuesday as he cut in from the left flank and drilled an unstoppable low shot beyond David James into the bottom corner.
And he almost added an even better strike to it with a crisp rising drive that grazed the upright as James could only stand and watch, waiting for his net to bulge behind him.
But after another positive performance to add to a promising display in the win over Leicester last Friday, there is genuine hope Utaka may just have found the elusive key to consistency and added a new work ethic to finally get the best out of a player that clearly has the ability to terrify Championship defenders.
