Samson Siasia
Ex-international hailed the appointment of Samson Siasia as the new coach of the Super Eagles.
Edobor, who featured at the 1994 Nations Cup in Ivory Coast, praised the Nigeria Football Federation for not yielding to pressure to give the job to another coach.
”I am very impressed that the voices of the people have been heard and we will now have our own coach to take the team to any competition,” Edobor told Sports Flight, a sports programme on City FM 105.1 on Thursday.
The USA-based former player dismissed the idea that foreign coaches are better than their Nigerian counterparts.
The former New Nigeria Bank star added,”Our coaches are better because they know the players better than the expatriates.
”I am impressed that Siasia is the chosen one and I wish him all the best.”
Edobor urged the NFF not to interfere in Siasia‘s job, saying he should be allowed to select his team for matches.
He said, “You do not go to a clinic to tell a doctor how to run his clinic; the coach is the doctor in his own clinic and should be left alone to decide how he runs it.”
