With eyes on the international modeling scene, Codread, real name Pius Okaba, left Nigeria for South Africa in 2005. Years later, the model turned a musician and today, Patricia, a song off his debut album, has been nominated for the Best Reggae/ Dancehall Video in the Nigeria Music Video Awards 2010 holding on November 28. Many would remember the gangling model who made hearts to flutter as he sashayed on the runways in Nigeria years back. He was also one of the faces used by telecommunications company, Glo, to market its products and services when GSM was novel in Nigeria.
Then, the award-winning model, Pius Okaba, whose fans called ”Hotter than fire,” worked closely with celebrated fashion designer, Modela. The young Pius was also involved in make-up artistry and the training of aspiring models.
But in 2005, he decided to strut the runways in other countries. So, he left Nigeria and moved to South Africa, where he made his mark. However, unknown to many, the model had always been interested in music. After making a huge success on the international modelling scene, he went back to his first love - music - but now as Codread.
