Siasia
President of Nigeria Football Federation Aminu Maigari has said something that should interest Samson Siasia:
We’ll give him everything he needs to succeed. We’ll support every step that he takes to achieve success. It, therefore, means that we will not accept excuses for failure. Failure is not part of any consideration that we have made and we want to leave it at that.
Maigari spoke from |South Africa where he is recuperating from a knee surgery. He aggravated a knee injury while playing soccer to keep fit recently.
Siasia had bagged the plum job to coach the senior national soccer team, The Eagles after facing a stiff contest with his former captain Stephen Keshi. His choice came after football authorities, following public outcry, decided to allow a Nigerian head Eagles’ technical crew.
Siasia was the choice of the technical crew and the choice of many fans.
That, on its own, resolves the issue of controversy on the appointment of a national coach. It also means that Siasia should not go to sleep until he achieves the objective of transforming the Eagles.
We are mindful of the time he requires to begin to produce results but we are equally determined to meet his needs to achieve reasonable results within the time. It was on the basis of this that we decided on a two-year contract. We’ll not accept excuses for total failure. We understand the challenges but we are not thinking of falling below where we are now.Maigari congratulated the Falcons for their victory in South Africa and said that Athe girls and their coach have made up proud.
