Ekiti: Amputee, others recount experiences

FEMI MAKINDE writes on the sacrifices made by persons killed or maimed in the struggle to actualise the mandate of Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, and describes them as real heroes of the struggle.



The struggle to reclaim Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s stolen mandate from ousted governor, Mr. Segun Oni, in Ekiti State, was a very long and tortuous one. While Fayemi, who was the arrowhead of the struggle, survived an attempt to kill him some few metres away from the entrance of the Governor’s Office where he now occupies, many of his supporters, journalists and human rights activist were brutalised, humiliated and tortured. Others lost their jobs, some lost parts of their bodies and those less fortunate paid the supreme sacrifice.
