Uduaghan returns to Delta 10 days after election annulment

Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan

WARRI- FORMER Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan who had been away from the state since his election was nullified, November 9, returned to Warri,Friday, 10 days after the annulment by the Court of Appeal, urging Deltans to reject the persons or group of persons that want to hijack their mandate.
Dr. Uduaghan was mobbed by excited party members, supporters and friends from the three senatorial districts of the state who thronged the Osubi Airstrip, near Warri to receive him.
As soon as he stepped out of the airplane and saw the teeming crowd, a confident smile beamed on his face, he adjusted his cap and lifted up his hands in salute.
Immediately, the people broke into frenzy, as they rushed towards the airplane in a bid to shake his hands or hug him. It was a hectic time controlling the crowd, as the airstrip facility was overstretched for the first time. For more than 30 minutes he could not leave the airport because the mammoth crowd was so many and vehicles jam-packed.
Delta State PDP chairman, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi who led party chieftains to receive the governor told Saturday Vanguard, “I hope you are seeing the multitude that came to welcome him back, tell me whether any other gubernatorial candidate can muster such support”.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Oma Djebah said, “The former governor is loved by Deltans, you can see it in their faces, they are going to return him in the re-run”, adding, “There is no serious challenger; his good works will speak for him”.
Commissioners \Raymos Guanah and Frank Omare, both of Ijaw origin said Dr. Uduaghan would triumph in the re-run. Omare specifically debunked the claim by some persons that Ogbe-Ijoh people were against the former governor, saying it was not true.
A member of the Delta Waterways Security Committee, Chief Boro Opodu told Saturday Vanguard that the former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark and other failed politicians who were working against the return of Dr. Uduaghan would fail.
Commissioner for Local Government and House of Representatives aspirant for Ika Federal Constituency, Chief Tony Nwaka and Mr. Magnus Onyibe said Delta North was fully behind Dr. Uduaghan’s re-election.
Senator James Manager, Delta North senatorial aspirant and former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, director-general of his campaign organization, Prof G.G. Darah, Commissioner nominee, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, House of Assembly member,  Chief Monday Igbuya, Chief Austin Aiyedemejor and a host of others were at the airstrip to receive him.
The former governor who spoke to newsmen briefly said he was confident that he would win the re-run and urged all those he might have stepped on their toes while in office to forgive him, saying, “to err is human and to forgive is divine”.
He told Saturday Vanguard on phone, “This is a game of politics, people say so many things just to paint you black. I am just saying that Deltans should not allow anybody to deceive them, my achievements are there for everybody to see, what I am asking for is a continuation of the mandate they gave me to continue with the work we are doing and I promise that we will do more”.
By 5.00 pm, the crowd which followed him from the Osubi Airstrip to his Warri residence at about 2.00 pm was yet to disperse. Some were dancing, singing and jubilating while others were discussing the next election.
