How it all started
People used to say I was funny. I didn’t feel so. But then, I know my mother is a very funny woman. I wouldn’t know if I took it from her. I used to attend one church at Okokomaiko, Lagos. I was born into a white garment church, but in 1996, I joined one church called I am in Charge. I blended with the church and eventually, I became a bona fide member. The likes of Alarm Blow and Ultimate Mallam used to come to the church. Eventually, my friends pushed and pushed me till I was given a slot to perform in church one night. When I was younger, I used to watch the Sunny Side of Life. There was a Hausa character in the soap. He inspired me so I decided to take up that kind of character. The comedy industry was already saturated with Wafi (Warri) people then. I decided to be different. Fortunately, people laughed at my jokes that night. If they hadn’t laughed, I don’t think I would have been here today.
