Missing five-year-old pupil, home help found

Sharon Omolayo

Sharon Omolayo, a five-year-old pupil of Avi-Cenna International School, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, and a member of her household, Dare Akamo, have been found.

Although efforts to speak with Omolayo’s mother proved abortive, a friend of the family, who spoke with PUNCH METRO on the telephone on Monday, said they were found on Sunday in Ifo, Ogun State.

The friend of the family, who declined to give her name, spoke with our correspondent through Omolayo’s mother’s telephone line.

“She has been found in Ifo along with the home help (Akamo),” she said.

In response to our correspondent’s text message, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Frank Mba, said he had not been briefed on the status of Omolayo’s case.

According to a statement signed by Omolayo’s parents and the principal of her school, the girl and the home help were declared missing on December 13, 2010.

“Sharon Omolayo was collected from Avi-Cenna International School in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, by a trusted member of her household, Dare Akamo. It is thought that they travelled home by public taxi but never reached home and have neither been seen nor heard from since,” it said.
