German Machine crushes Falcons 8-0
It was a bad day for the Super Falcons who are still celebrating their AWC victory as they were beaten mercilessly by reigning world champions, Germany, 8-0 on Thursday night in an international exhibition game that took place in Leverkusen.
SoccerStar gathered that two of the goals came in the first half while the rest were scored in the second half due to pressure from the Germans who were firing from all cylinders.
Speaking shortly after the match, Falcons coach, Eucharia Uche, attributed her wards loss to the bad weather.
"I am really disappointed in the result. The weather here is very cold and it affected the performance of the girls. Nevertheless, I give kudos to the Germans. They showed today (Thursday) that they are the best in the world. We learnt some bitter lessons. We will go back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes," she enthused.
Germany, it would be recalled, won the last two editions of the FIFA's Women's World Cup in 2003 and 2007 respectively. They also finished in third place at the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics Games.
