‘Terrorism, kidnapping challenge police competence’

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police iin charge of administration, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Mohammed Yusufu, on Monday, said that terrorism and kidnappings had continued to task the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.

Yusufu, who said this at a community workshop in Abuja, however, assured that the Force had stepped up its community policing strategies as one of the ways to combat these crimes, adding that the police was devising new ideas and innovative ways to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the country.

Speaking at a Community Policing workshop in Abuja, Yusufu stated that the police had realised that it could not fight crime alone and that the community was the pillar upon which the fight against crime rests, hence the partnership between the Force and the community.
