Princess Akofade Adeyemi
THE first daughter of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, Princess Akofade Adeyemi is dead. She died in the early hours of Saturday and was aged 50 years.
Princess Adeyemi died after a brief illness at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, where she was admitted and diagnosed of kidney related complications.
The late Oyo princess was a woman of many parts while alive as she was both a politician and business- woman who was loved by the people.
Until her death, she was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo West Local Government where she served as the Supervisory Counselor for Education. She was also a great mobilizer.
The Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Hon Oyewale Ogunmola, described her death as sudden and a personal loss to him, adding that her qualities as a grassroots woman would be missed by all.
The Chairman of Atiba Local Government, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, who is a younger brother to the late princess, described her death as unexpected and a devastating blow to members of the Oyo royal family.
She is survived by her father, mother and children.
