I’ll fight my way back into Eagles – Adefemi
Adefemi
Skoda Xanthi of Greece defender Olubayo Adefemi has said he is ready to give his best at his club to convince Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia he deserves a place in the national team.
Siasia is expected to travel to Europe to meet with some of the players he hopes to feature in the team ahead of the 2012 Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in March next year. Adefemi is not expecting Siasia to be in Greece but he is confident his success will get the coach‘s attention.
Adefemi missed out on the 2010 Nations Cup and the World Cup, making it over a year since he last played for Nigeria.
”Nigerians are about to see the best team they‘ve seen in years,” he told our correspondent on line on Thursday.
”It is not going to be easy to make Siasia‘s team because he‘s a coach who always wants the best. He has already said he wants only those who play regularly for their clubs.
“I‘m on top of my game and I hope to keep for that way to get him to look my way.”
Adefemi put up a spectacular display for his club on Sunday against Benjamin Onwuachi‘s Kavala in the Greece Super League. The game ended 1-1, keeping Xanthi on the seventh spot on the log.
”Greek league may not be as popular as the leagues in England and Spain but it is just as tough,” he said. ”My performance here and my commitment to Nigeria should earn me a role in the Eagles.”
