Senate president, David Mark, yesterday said that he would do everything humanly possible to make sure total peace returns to the troubled Ogun State.
Mr. Mark also said he “will do that, even with the last pint of my blood. I will ensure there is development in Nigeria and Ogun State, to go from strength to strength.”
He gave the assurance in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during his installation as an Egba High Chief, with the title Amulutoro of Egbaland, conferred on him by the paramount ruler of the town, Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
Speaking at the ceremony, held at Alake Palace in Ake area of the ancient town, the Senate president told the gathering that he would remain a peacemaker, and also ensure that all Nigerians begin to do things according to the wisdom of God.
While tasking the nation’s leaders of the need to imbibe peace in all ramifications, Mr. Mark said, “I want to assure you that I am not only going to be a peacemaker, I will ensure that there is going to be peace in Egbaland and Ogun State, and all leaders will continue to rule according to the fear of God.”
He also seized the opportunity to acknowledge the leadership quality of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, who he said is a brilliant legislator, who he {Mark} confessed enjoy working with.
On the expected peace in Ogun State, he said, “having the governor and the Speaker in the church, before the altar of God, is an indication that there is going to be total peace in Ogun State.”
