AWC: Falcons set for revenge against Equatorial Guinea , Uche

Falcons
Chief Coach of high-flying Super Falcons, Eucharia Uche, yesterday vowed  that today’s African Women’s Championship  final match against their Equatorial-Guinean counterparts will not be taken for granted.

Uche, a former Falcons’ player, assured  they will never allow the ghost of 2008 when Equatorial- Guinea hosted the African Women’s championship and beat them repeat itself in South Africa.
“There is nothing like the ghost of the past,  though in the last edition they edged us out in the semi-final in 2008, a thing that has never happened since the commencement of the AWC. We are not saying that they are push-overs, but we are going to take our pound of flesh, we are going to revenge.
“We saw what they played with Banyana Banyana in the second semi-final and we have proved that we are the team to beat. We will not allow any chance from the Equatorial Guineans because they are as well very dangerous.
”We are concentrating on that match, we don’t want to lose any focus. I know all eyes are on Perpetua Nkwocha but there is going to be a great surprise in that final. The strategy this time will be different,” she enthused.
Meanwhile, former Nigerian international, Awala Jumbo, has described Super Falcons’ victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroun as a fruit of hardwork and concentration.
Awala, in an exclusive interview with Sunday Vanguard Sports in Lagos, was optimistic that the Falcons will bring the cup back to the country because of the team’s dedication.
