The champions have had a patchy start to the season, and were again without their star players France international Franck Ribery and Dutchman Arjen Robben, as they overcame Freiburg in an entertaining encounter.
Bayern took the lead through Argentina defender Martin Demichelis as he rose at the near post to head a Danijel Pranjic corner into the net on the half hour mark.
