Friday morning's proceedings in Switzerland avoided pairing the Blues with Ancelotti's former clubs, AC Milan or Roma, or with the club Malouda left to join Chelsea - Lyon. Inter, who knocked us out last season, and Valencia were other teams we could have played at this stage but instead it is Danish champions and runaway league leaders FC Copenhagen who provide our opposition in February and March.
'I think that it was a good draw but Copenhagen had good performances in the group,' said Ancelotti.
'They were able to draw against Barcelona at home and I saw the game away against Barcelona and they played a good game.
'Copenhagen don't have a lot of experience in the Champions League but we have to pay attention because they have the possibility to prepare well for the game physically. Now they have a winter break in the Danish League and they can have good training sessions before the game. It could be an advantage for them.'
The Danish domestic season doesn't resume until early March, between the two legs of our last 16 Champions League meeting, while Chelsea remain hard at it, a factor also discussed by Malouda.
'You don't know how difficult the draw is until you play the team,' he cautioned.
'I think it is better than playing Barcelona but Copenhagen were one of the good surprises in the group stage.
'They are especially difficult to play against away so we have to be ready. This is a period when we don't have a break for winter so we have to make sure we are prepared when those games come because we cannot afford to make a mistake.'
