Economy on growth path, says Jonathan

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to have faith in his government and be hopeful because the country was on course to economic growth.

Also, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Communication,  Labaran Maku, has blamed the northern leaders for the many development woes that have continued to relegate the region to playing the second fiddle in almost all spheres of human endeavors in the country.

According to a statement by the Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation , the president said a recent rating of the Nigerian economy by an organization, Standard and Poor’s, showed that the economy was growing.

Also, a recent  opinion poll conducted by NOI Polls in conjunction with the United States-based Gallup Poll rated Jonathan as the most acceptable aspirant in the 2011 presidential race.

The poll conducted between October 7 and 11 indicated that 99 per cent of Nigerians are aware of President Jonathan’s ambition to govern Nigeria from 2011, while 87 per cent of the respondents felt he should run for the office. Only 12 per cent of those polled responded that the President should not stand for election in 2011, while one per cent say they don’t know.
