CARNIRIV bands about to be unveiled

Participants at the carnival
Potential members of the five Freestyle Bands and Volunteer Corps recently established by organisers of the Rivers State Carnival otherwise called CARNIRIV, are now filled with great expectations. Reason: membership registration into the bands has ended, with the organisers saying that the next line of action will soon be known.

“We appreciate everyone who demonstrated their interest by showing up to register. The turn-out was very impressive especially on the last two days. We are currently collating data from the process and will send out notifications to registered members on next steps. Fasten your seat belts. Port-Harcourt is about to come alive,”they sing in the statement.

CARNIRIV is conceived to be a celebratory convergence and display of remarkable cultural content, originality and aesthetics that provide deep insight into the rich heritage of the people of Rivers State, Nigeria.

“It is a marriage of art, beauty, tradition, colour and entertainment that dates back to 1988,” the organisers further note. It is about showcasing what is essentially a way of life of the people of Rivers State, Nigeria by taking it out of the mundane to give it the status of an art form. ”The fun and grandeur enacted each year tells the story of a people and our determination to continue the legacy of cultural value and appreciation.”
